No-exam life insurance
Who qualifies for fast decisions, how the process works, and what to expect if you don't qualify.
Many companies now provide accelerated underwriting: for applicants within certain ages and amounts, they decide based on your application, pharmacy records, driving history, and other data rather than scheduling a medical exam. Many decisions arrive within the same day. Your quote on this site shows whether a specific product needs an exam, might need one, or doesn't require one.
What it changes
Skipping the exam is not the same as skipping underwriting. Your answers get checked, and a policy issued on false information can be challenged within the first two years. If the carrier finds concerns through other data, it might still require tests; you get to decide whether to move forward at that point.
Who tends to qualify
Usually applicants younger than about 60 seeking coverage up to the carrier's accelerated underwriting limit, with no major medical history and no tobacco use in the past year or longer. If you had recent blood work done at a doctor's visit, some carriers will use those results instead of ordering new tests.
If an exam is required, it's typically a 20- to 30-minute appointment with a paramedical examiner at your home or workplace in the San Pablo area, at no charge to you. For many healthy applicants, exam results can actually improve your rate class, so it may be an advantage.
